Welcome to the website of the Committee on Evangelization and Catechesis. On these pages you will find an outline of the ongoing work in Evangelization, Catechesis, Stewardship and World Mission of the United States Conference of Catholic Bishops. As successors of the Apostles, we bishops continue the work of Evangelization and Catechesis through our episcopal ministry, our witness and our service.
There is much to discover on this website about how to deepen our faith and the sharing of it with others.
Evangelization is the Church's deepest identity. Evangelization brings the good news of the Gospel to all who seek the life-giving message of faith in Jesus Christ.
Catechesis nourishes, forms and deepens the faith one receives through the ministry of the Church.
Stewardship is an expression of discipleship rooted in a personal relationship with Christ. Good stewards generously share their gifts and blessings with others for the sake of the Kingdom.
The Church is missionary by her very nature. Her mission is to proclaim the salvation of Christ to the ends of the earth. As teachers and pastors, we bishops are responsible for promoting Catholic world missions in the United States.
As you visit this website, we invite you to consider your vocation to share in the Church's mission. Each one of us in virtue of our baptism is called to live our faith and to bear witness to the Gospel in our families, friends, parish communities and society. To share in the Church's mission of Evangelization and Catechesis is to grow in our relationship with Jesus Christ.
It is our prayer that our common witness to faith, hope and love will continue to transform the world in the love of Jesus Christ.
Pope Francis has set October 2019 as an Extraordinary Missionary Month. He hopes to foster greater awareness of Missio ad Gentes and to animate the missionary transformation of pastoral activity in the Church. The Holy Father's theme for the 93rd World Mission Day is "Baptized and Sent: the Church of Christ on Mission in the World” which will be celebrated as part of the Extraordinary Missionary Month October 2019. Living as Missionary Disciples provides dioceses and parishes and other church ministries with a road map to "new paths for the Church's journey" of evangelization. It is not intended to provide a ready-made program for a parish to follow or a detailed strategic plan to implement. Rather, it offers principles that dioceses and parishes can apply to their efforts in evangelization and missionary discipleship.
The worksheets provide an assortment of assessment instruments to determine preparation and formation of those already engaged in various ministries of evangelization and catechesis on the parish level.

In Voices of Vatican II, twelve men who took part in the Second Vatican Council (1962-65) look back at that historic event, half a century after the fact. It features abundant archival footage of the council and exclusive interviews with those who recount the history they witnessed and helped to make.
