Symposium of the Roundtable Assoc. of Catholic Diocesan Social Action Directors
Creating a Culture of Life and Dignity -- Confronting a Throw-Away Culture
4:00 p.m. – 8:00 p.m.
This symposium brings together pro-life and social justice ministries for dialogue, including how social justice leaders and pro-life supporters can work together to promote a culture of life and dignity. Participants will explore the latest research on viewpoints of people in the pews related to life and justice issues. A special welcome is extended to all who are attending the March for Life including the youth and young adult community as well as those who are attending the Catholic Social Ministry Gathering. This event will include a series of integrated roundtables where the pro-life, disability, death penalty, and social justice communities will be brought together to explore models of dialogue and collaboration between their respective ministries. Speakers will assist participants by presenting research and best practices on a collaborative approach to confront the throw-away culture and acknowledge the dignity of all human life. Catholic Relief Services’ 2016 Annual Diocesan Directors’ Meeting will serve as an excellent opportunity to reconnect with and be energized by the global solidarity mission of CRS. During the meeting, Diocesan Directors will hear from many leaders at CRS about our overseas work, the engagement of U.S. Catholics in these efforts and an opportunity to reflect on successful practices for faithful formation around global solidarity. Pope Francis said "We must regain the conviction that we need one another, that we have a shared responsibility for others and the world, and that being good and decent are worth it." (Laudato Si', 229) Speakers will explore and lead discussions connecting Catholic teachings on mercy, solidarity, and the environment to the world of work and the dignity of work. Care for Creation

Join in focused conversation and networking on Care for Creation with attention to key Catholic groups and initiatives. This will be a chance to meet religious men and women and their colleagues who are ministering in religious institutes' offices of Justice, Peace and Integrity of Creation (JPIC). There will be some time to hear about congregational priorities, actions, and campaigns, and to explore opportunities for collaboration at the national, regional, and local levels.
Catholic Rural Life Meeting & Luncheon
"Laudato Si" and Rural Communities (fees apply)

In June of 2015, Pope Francis published his ground breaking encyclical Laudato Si': On the Care of Our Common Home. The reception of this important and significant document has been varied across the world and within the United States. Participants will hear from a panel of practitioners regarding the various ways communities are living out mercy in rural America through the application of principles from Laudato Si'. Participants will engage in discussions about ways to broaden the exposure and expand the impact of Laudato Si' in more communities throughout the US. Lunch will be served during the meeting. Fees apply -- $65.00 per person.

Society of St. Vincent de Paul Meeting

The Society of St. Vincent de Paul’s Voice of the Poor Committee will meet to share experiences, discuss objectives for 2015, and talk about issues related to the condition of the poor and disenfranchised for the purpose of helping Vincentians to live their faith. Roundtable Association of Catholic Diocesan Social Action Directors
30th Annual Harry A. Fagan and Servant of Justice Awards Banquet
6:30 p.m. – 9:00 p.m. (additional registration required -- fees apply)
This special awards banquet will be hosted by the Roundtable Association of Catholic Diocesan Social Action Directors. The association is the national professional network for those who work at Diocesan, parish, university and Catholic organizations on matters of justice and peace. The Roundtable is committed to deepening the capacity of social action directors to engage in the social mission of the church. The Fagan Award, the Roundtable's highest honor, is named for Roundtable's late founder, and for 2016 will be awarded to Fr. Fred Kammer, S.J. The Fagan Award honors a Catholic leader whose work and witness on behalf of gospel and the church's social teachings have significantly impacted many and advanced greatly the causes of dignity, rights and justice throughout the world. The Servant of Justice Award honors a Roundtable member who has made a unique contribution to the achievement of the Catholic vision of social justice in their Diocese, and for 2016 will be awarded to Mr. Tom Ulrich. Fees apply -- $125.00 per person, with a 15% discount available to Roundtable members. Theological Reflection for Experienced Pastoral Ministers and Young Professionals

If you are between the ages of 20-40, please consider joining your colleagues for some time of theological reflection. By finding God in our daily work, we are better able to identify what we are being called to and how God is present in our daily lives. This is an opportunity to develop formation practices and to expand imagination for ministry. By sharing our stories and understandings of ministry practices we encourage our growth for mission. Advocacy Visits on Capitol Hill

Every participant is encouraged to visit his/her members of Congress and their staff representatives to advocate on our priorities, and to leave behind our Capitol Hill Message. Please remember that many personal items are not permitted through security at the Capitol, and you should not plan on bringing any of your luggage on your visits. To ensure successful visits we encourage you to take advantage of luggage storage facilities either at the Omni Shoreham (for registered guests) or at Union Station (see CSMG Daily Bulletin or CSMG Registration Desk for details).
Capitol Hill Reception

Join us in a new location for this year's Capitol Hill Reception -- The Hart Senate Office Building, room 902. All registered CSMG participants are invited to this celebration of Catholic advocacy for the common good. Photo identification and your CSMG registration badge will be required. CSMG 2016 ends with the conclusion of this reception at 5:00 p.m.
