The World Youth Day team in Krakow has released the English version of WYD’s theme song, "Blest are the Merciful." It was prepared in collaboration with the United States Conference of Catholic Bishops, the Australian Catholic Bishops Conference, and the Catholic Bishops Conference of England and Wales. Vocalists from three different continents can be heard in the official recording – each of the singers were recorded in their own country, and the tracks were later mixed and produced in Nashville, Tennessee.

Learn more about the production of the original song, along with an explanation of each verse.

"Blest are the Merciful"

I lift my eyes to the mountains;
From where shall help come to me?
My help will come from the Lord, my God,
For He is merciful!

When we are lost, He searches for us,
To hold us in his arms,
His Holy Blood will heal our wounds,
To breath new life into us!

Blest are the merciful
Blest are the merciful
For it is mercy that shall be shown to those who show mercy (x2)

Unless the Lord forgives when we fall,
We wouldn't be able to stand.
But he forgives, He pardons us all.
Let us do the same!

Blest are the merciful
Blest are the merciful
For it is mercy that shall be shown to those who show mercy (x2)

God paid our debts with the blood of His Son,
Who rose alive from the tomb.
The Spirit within cries out to the world:
Jesus is the Lord!

Blest are the merciful
Blest are the merciful
For it is mercy that shall be shown to those who show mercy (x2)

So cast aside your fear and have faith,
Give your cares to the Lord
And trust in Him, for he has risen:
The Lord, your God, is alive!

Blest are the merciful
Blest are the merciful
For it is mercy that shall be shown to those who show mercy (x2)

"Bienaventurados los Misericordiosos"

Levanto mis ojos a los montes
quién me ayudara
la ayuda me viene del Señor,
por Su gran compasión.

Aun cuando estamos en el error
nos abraza con Su amor
Con Su sangre nuestro dolor
Al fin se sanará

Bienaventurados los misericordiosos,
porque ellos alcanzarán misericordia. (x2)

Si no perdonamos, ¿quién ganará?
¿quién puede sostenerse en pie?
Si El nos perdona, nosotros también
hagamos como nuestro Dios!

Bienaventurados los misericordiosos,
porque ellos alcanzarán misericordia. (x2)

En la cruz el nos redimió
de la tumba resucitó.
¡Jesucristo es el Señor!
¡Al mundo hay que anunciar!

Bienaventurados los misericordiosos,
porque ellos alcanzarán misericordia. (x2)

Hay que soltar el miedo y ser fiel,
con la mirada en Su amor
confiar porque Él resucitó
Vive el Señor!

Bienaventurados los misericordiosos,
porque ellos alcanzarán misericordia. (x4)
