"The USCCB does not certify individual lay ecclesial ministers."
Lay Ecclesial Ministers who have proven that they have the competencies required by specialized certification standards are granted a professional certification by their arch/diocese or national organization. The USCCB does not certify individual Lay Ecclesial Ministers.
The USCCB Subcommittee on Certification for Lay Ecclesial Ministry and Service does, however, approve certification standards and procedures voluntarily submitted by Arch/Diocese and National Organizations to certify individuals.
* Please note, however, that the USCCB Subcommittee on Certification for Ecclesial Ministry and Service only approves Arch/Diocesan certification standards and procedures for Arch/Diocesan Offices and National Organizations of specialized ministers listed in The Official Catholic Directory (also called the Kenedy Directory).
