We asked some of our newly professed men and women religious to tell us something about themselves that others might find surprising.  Their answers below provide some insight to how each discovered their vocational call.  Congratulations to the Profession Class of 2018!

Sisters of Life

"People might be suprised to know that I had never met a religious sister growing up.  After encountering a visiting sister speak at Mass one Sunday, my world was turned upside down as she invited all those called to "just say yes!"  I knew that instant that the possiblity of a whole new way of life was opening up before me, that this way was what my heart and love was made for."

"People might be surprised to know that I was dating someone when I decided to discern religious life.  I realized I could not ignore God's tug and invitation any longer.  I am grateful for this life and look forward to the adventure of living out my vows."

Handmaids of the Sacred Heart of Jesus, US Province

"People might be surprised to know that I was baptized Catholic but not raised in the faith, and participated in RCIA when I was 15.  I met our Sisters on a volunteer trip to El Salvador, trying to discern a lay missionary vocation.  It was the way these sisters lived and for whom they lived that awoke something more deep within me."

"People might be surprised to know that I am an artist!  Before entering the Seminary, I got a Bachelor degree in Fine Arts (paint) in the University of Puerto Rico and also I'm a professional singer.  But the Lord called me to be a religious with the mission to educate children and youth following the example of Jesus and our founder St. Joseph Calasanz."
