Building a Vocation Culture

Jesus said: “Come with me.” At once they left everything and went with him. (Mark 1:17-18)

Comprehensive youth ministry as described in Renewing the Vision: A Framework for Catholic Youth Ministry (RTV) entails eight components considered the "essence" of ministry with adolescents (advocacy, catechesis, community life, evangelization, justice and service, leadership development, pastoral care, and prayer and worship). The document also considers vocation ministry at the heart of ministry with youth:

"Today, in light of our National Strategy on Vocations, we add vocational discernment to the essence of ministry with adolescents." (RTV, p. 26)

Journeying with young people as they discern their life’s choices is part of our service. An important part of youth ministry is to present young people with the different ways of living based upon universal call to holiness, and accompanying them in their process of responding to God’s call. Their whole life depends on it.
