The Hispanic/Latino community currently constitutes 40% of the Catholic population in the United States. Moreover, nearly 50% of Catholic children under the age of 17 and born in the United States are Hispanic/Latino. However, over the past ten years, only 5-15% of newly professed religious and 10-20% of ordinands to the priesthood have been of Hispanic/Latino origin.  In addition, the share of foreign-born ordinands and religious continues to fluctuate with 27% of the Ordination Class of 2021 and 6% of the Profession Class of 2020 identifying as foreign-born.

The promotion of Hispanic vocations is a priority of the 2021-2024 USCCB Strategic Plan, and in particular, the Operational Plan for the USCCB Committee on Clergy, Consecrated Life and Vocations. The following resources are available to help pastoral leaders minister to the Hispanic/Latino population in their region, diocese, and local parish communities.
