Please continue to pray for the people of Haiti as they work with partners from around the world to rebuild after the January 2009 earthquake.

The impact of the earthquake in Haiti will be felt for years, especially in the life of the Catholic Church. The cathedral, many parishes, Catholic schools and other church buildings have been destroyed. Pastoral programs will also need to be rebuilt so that the Church in Haiti will continue to be a place of sacramental life.

The United States Conference of Catholic Bishops (USCCB) is collecting funds to help in the important work of rebuilding the Church in Haiti. The USCCB Subcommittee on Latin America will be responsible for overseeing the careful distribution of these funds. The Subcommittee has managed a grants program designed to support the pastoral work of the Church in Latin America for over forty years. Haiti has been a priority of the Subcommittee for many years. It has already begun to work with the Church in Haiti and other Catholic aid agencies to address the pressing needs brought by this latest tragedy.

Catholic Relief Services also provides opportunities to give, not only spiritually, but also with volunteer support and financial resources.
