Migration and Refugee Services Offices

The MRS Office of the Executive Director provides overall direction to and leadership of the department and collaborates with other USCCB offices, allied Catholic organizations, and other partner agencies on special projects and initiatives designed to promote awareness of and collective responses to the plight of immigrants, migrants, refugees, trafficking victims, and people on the move.

Within the Office of the Executive Director is the Resource Development office, which solicits funds from private, institutional, and governmental sources to provide funding for things that government programs will not fund.  Individuals may make a tax-deductible contribution directly to the National Catholic Fund for Migration and Refugee Services.

Office of Migration Policy and Public Affairs

The MRS Office of Migration and Refugee Policy assists the bishops in the development and promotion of migration and refugee policy positions within the context of the Church's social and moral teaching; implements communication, public education/outreach and legislative strategies that foster greater advocacy, awareness, understanding, and support for the work of MRS and the vulnerable populations it serves.

Office of Resettlement Services

The MRS Office of Resettlement Services partners with diocesan and other service offices to provide new life opportunities for refugees, Cuban/Haitian entrants, asylees, and other populations in need of resettlement.


Office of Children's Services

The MRS Office of Children's Services is one of two agencies authorized by the U.S. Department of State to resettle unaccompanied refugee children.  MRS serves as a leader in the protection of unaccompanied, refugee, and immigrant children by providing family reunification and foster care services.
