World Youth Day is an incredible celebration of the Youth and Young Adults within the Church. Building upon the scriptural themes of the preceding Global Celebrations of Young People, these events are poised not just to be a coming together of local churches, but also an international celebration. More than separate people from different locales, WYD celebrates both the profound unity of being members of the Body of Christ and the diversity of the gifts contained therein.
The next celebration will be World Youth Day Seoul, taking place in 2027 within the Capital of South Korea. This will be the first World Youth Day to take place in continental Asia. Leading up to this, the Holy Father in Rome will celebrate the Jubilee of Young People in 2025 jubilee year. To learn more about Christ the King and the jubilee, click here!
While it may have passed, the recent experiences of WYD Lisbon may be good to review. Whether it be to relive some experiences when at Lisbon or previous World Youth Days or to share in the fruits of these gatherings from a distance, looking over these experiences can help form a solid spiritual foundation, both for planning for World Youth Day Seoul and as a good grounding for a personal prayer.
